About the maker

I have tutored since high school: through my college's tutoring program, in after-school programs, and as a teaching assistant during my PhD in computer science. More than ten years of that was grade-school math and computer science, and every session started with a KenKen, because a good puzzle gets a child thinking before the lesson does.

In college I took up chess and baduk seriously and reached 2000 Elo in chess (online, on lichess and chess.com) and 1 dan in baduk (also online) within a year of each. I play janggi too, and more board and card games than I should admit to.

On the janggi posters the horse is labelled 마, so a child learning janggi meets the word before "horse". Each piece gets its own movement diagram. Everything is drawn from the rules and the game records, then printed to order in the US.
